How does the Harrogate Phoenix Players' organisation work?
Harrogate Phoenix Players pride themselves on being founded and run on a democratic basis with all members able to play a full part in decision-making.
From our inception we have held a number of Open Forums each year at which important matters affecting the Players are debated, with members free to raise any topic relevant to the Players' operation or programme.
The administration of the Players is in the hands of annually elected Officers, who also act as the Trustees in agreement with the Charity Commissioners.
The Officers elected in September 2011 are: -
- Honorary Chairman: Alan Barrett
- Honorary Vice-Chairman: Gillian Lancaster
- Honorary Secretary: Carole Sowden
- Honorary Treasurer: Emily Rockliff
- Officer-Without-Portfolio: Neil Lancaster
The Officers are helped by other people who volunteer to hold a number of ad-hoc positions, either arranging tickers sales, getting publicity for Players' events, producing programmes for musical events, providing musical scores or organising the active social life which exists alongside our rehearsal and performance evenings.
Do you need to contact the Harrogate Phoenix Players?
The usual point of contact is our Honorary Secretary, who can be reached by sending an e-mail to harrogatephoenix@hotmail.com.
Would you like to join us?
We give a warm welcome to all, whether newcomers to amateur theatre or established performers or helpers who wish to join our team.
Performers who can sing and / or dance are needed to form the nucleus of the musical events that we stage, but there are other activities which are vital to our continuing success. So you will find a very warm welcome, if you have experience of, or want to learn about the duties of our support teams both backstage and front-of-house. There are always people needed to carry out the administrative tasks, whether as one of our Officers or by taking responsibility for carrying out another of the volunteer roles.
Why not arrange to attend a rehearsal night at St Mary's in Knaresborough (send an e-mail to harrogatephoenix@hotmail.com) and find out what fun you can have whilst engaging in a great hobby.
